Guess what? One of of my new(er) blogging friends just gave me this award! Yes indeedy, Tayyaba (call her “Tay”!), from Writes2Escape thought I was worthy, and I couldn’t feel more honored.

Beyond the usual “facts about oneself” (you can see mine HERE and HERE), her post responded to Eleven Questions, and I’d like to do those here, as well. Check her answers out; I can only hope mine are as interesting…

  • Favorite quote, and why?

“I do not understand the mystery of grace — only that it meets us where we are and does not leave us where it found us.” – Anne Lamott

I discovered her writing at a really important point in my life. I’d just begun taking medication for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and my mind was quiet enough to reconsider the importance of faith in my life, after long believing that I was too “broken” to embrace that side of me.

  • One thing about you that people wouldn’t assume by looking at you?
That I eat too much junk food (and, on occasion, enjoy Jack Daniels).
  • Would you rather forgive something said about you or verbally lash the person who said it?
    I’m very forgiving….right after I tear them a new one…..
  • Something about you that makes you really proud
I’m raising (with my husband) two pretty amazing kids.
  • A single favorite book you wouldn’t mind reading twice or thrice. Why?
I have to go with five fairly diverse books, all of which I have read more than twiceOn Writing Well by William Zinser, When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris, The Shining by Stephen King, The Big House: A Century in the Life of an American Summer Home by George Howe Colt, and Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamott
  • One person whose (God forbid) death would change you? Why?
My father’s….it actually happened over a decade ago and definitely changed me. Beyond the unbelievable loss, it taught me not to take life too seriously, and THAT was a gift.
  • What’s that which you desire the most from life?
    Serenity.
  • Your favorite word. Yes, word.
I need to share my new favorite PHRASE, here. “Awwww, crud monkeys!”… I heard the kids say it once, and I seem to have adopted as an improvement over “Awww, sh*t”. Now (as in JUST now), I find out that the Urban Dictionary defines it as “south-country slang for ‘poop on a stick'” Nice. Oh well. I still think it sounds like an improvement.
  • Beauty comes from ______ ?
    The inside……and Sephora.
  • Five things that life is about.
It’s about being grateful, embracing positive relationships, not taking yourself too seriously, playing fair, and always carrying enough money for tolls.
  •   Words for you are?
A good way to empty my head.

NOW, a handful of blogs that I’ve recently fallen in love with. Show them some love….and make sure they post their answers — I’m sure they’ll be great!
